Description
M-M-RvaxPro is a vaccine that protects against measles, mumps and rubella . It’s used in people who are at least 12 months old.
Uses
- To protect against measles, mumps, and rubella
- To be used during measles outbreaks
- To be used for post-exposure vaccination
- To be used in people who are likely to be susceptible to mumps and rubella
- To be used in people who are in contact with susceptible pregnant women
How it works
- M-M-RvaxPro contains weakened forms of the measles, mumps, and rubella viruses
- When given, the immune system produces antibodies that help protect against these viruses
- In the future, the immune system can produce antibodies more quickly when exposed to these viruses
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any vaccine against measles, mumps, or rubella
- Hypersensitivity to any of the excipients in the vaccine
Other considerations
- A doctor or nurse may recommend delaying the vaccine if a child has a high temperature or is acutely unwell
- A minor illness, such as a cough, cold, or snuffles, will not interfere with the vaccine
