Description
DEPO-PROVERA® is a hormonal contraceptive injection used to prevent pregnancy in women. It contains the active ingredient medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is a synthetic form of progesterone hormone. The injection is given every 12 weeks to provide continuous birth control.
Composition:
Each prefilled syringe contains 150mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate as the active ingredient.
Side effects:
The common side effects of DEPO-PROVERA® include irregular menstrual periods, weight gain, headaches, and mood changes. Less common side effects may include nausea, breast tenderness, hair loss, and skin reactions at the injection site. There is also a risk of bone mineral density loss with long-term use of the injection.
